Rocky MTN "RIO" Care Package
Rocky MTN "RIO" Care Package
The
RIO Tenkara rod was tailor-made for the great and mighty Rio Grande River here in Northern New Mexico. The Rio Grande winds its way through a diverse landscape, encompassing the high desert and deep canyons, ultimately forming the dramatic Rio Grande Gorge near Taos, New Mexico. Our rod is designed to tackle the unique challenges and opportunities presented by this remarkable waterway.
This is where the birth of Rocky MTN Tenkara began, with a man named Estevan. He was a Tenkara enthusiast who aimed to introduce Tenkara to one of New Mexico's prime spots for catching wild browns and cutthroat trout. Some of the finest fishing locations are in the upper sections of the river, accessible only by trail. That's where a RIO Tenkara rod proves perfect for a day of unforgettable fishing.

After having the rod for a month and close to 50 fish caught I have zero complaints! I’ve had several fish snap 3x tippet and the rod came out just fine!
Amazing photos! The world needs more bass on Tenkara

Caught 4 bluegill in the span of 45 minutes with it. nice sizes too. Easy to cast, fish, and retrieve.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and a photo. Happy fishing!
A unit of a tenkara rod. A little on the heavier side, with a sriffer, faster action. This rod is my favorite for great big hoppers and dries (and as untraditional as it is - a hopper/dry dropper setup). Heavy weighted nymphs, and #10-#12 beaded woolly buggers, smaller non-articulated streamers, and Pat's rubber legs. Seems like a lot of rod for smaller flies, but maybe I haven't found the sweet spot with line choice for 'em. I really prefer to cast this rod with a furled, tapered line.
