Rocky MTN Compa Tenkara rod only
Compa is a short expression for “compadre”, which means friend in Spanish.
At Rocky MTN Tenkara, we want to be your adventure buddy, taking you out of your cozy home and into the great outdoors. Our goal is to help you appreciate and embrace the beautiful environment around you.
This Compa rod is a throwback to our joyful wanderings with loved ones. Its unique colors are reminiscent of New Mexico's bright turquoise and fiery red, honoring our beloved ristras made with traditional local red chilies. This is the ultimate take anywhere Tenkara rod.

Couldnt ask for a better rod. Well made, colors are great and the bite sensitivity is even better
One of my favorite small water rods. Nice action yet
Still has good backbone. Small package big fun!
Very good rod..easy casting..nice on bluegill…trying it in the GSMNP this week.
Great expectations!,
Multiple pocket rods have come out in the last year and I think this little companion really fits the length I am going for. I took it out to a native cutthroat stream and paired it with 3.0 level line and an assortment of nymphs. This rod is a little beast but not too fast either. I have confidently landed a 12" trout with enough ease to know I could do it with a 15" if I were so "unfortunate" to find the creek monster.
Naturally the success of larger trout will be based on the skill of the angler but I am a firm believer the Compa is robust enough for occasional size while still having a heyday with 7-10" trout. Paired with lighter line such as 3.0, you will enjoy standard dries such as BWO, PMD, and Caddis, but a Kebari lover will really appreciate the rod.
My particular debut even used some size 12 beaded soft hackle nymphs (Brent's Warbird) and outside of a false cast, you really won't feel over weight with a nymph. Rocky MTN Tenkara did a great job with this rod and I think it pairs well with the Chico or Chupacabra as a backup rod or secondary for tight situations where you really just need to shorten the line less than the rod.
Yo, thank yo Skiddy for the review on our rod as this one took time to make and also a lot of reasearch into the market to make. We tried very hard to get this rod to be as soft as possible without making a rod so brittle that we would be replacing parts. I originaly paired this rod with 2.5 level line but had a mess up in the manufacturing process that made the level line too light to use. I agree a 3.0 level line is perfect for this rod and something we are working on getting for RMT. FYI our new COMPA rods will finaly have out new logo and branding, we will be releasing them soon to the market but still have all the great flex. We appriciate your reviews and could not ask for a more honest and humble person to check our company out.
