Rocky MTN "Chico" Care Package
Rocky MTN "Chico" Care Package
The "Chico Rod" was born as autumn leaves turned, inspired by the moment our renowned 12 ft Rio rod brushed the falling foliage while casting. It's a 7-9 foot zoom rod that captures the essence of New Mexico's small stream brown trout fishing and high-elevation hikes.
What sets the Chico Rod apart is its distinctive color scheme, a departure from the typical black with red or metallic banding found in Tenkara rods. Instead, it pays homage to New Mexico's rich history of unique license plates. The rod's adobe hue and straw gold rings transport you to the days of Francisco Vasquez de Coronado, the Spanish explorer in search of the fabled Seven Cities of Gold.
Remaining true to our roots, we're dedicated to expanding the possibilities within the Tenkara industry.

Just tried it today. Hooked up to a 16" rainbow in a spot that lures/spinners were real difficult to work with. I dropped a fly upstream and he took it! Hooked him well but broke the tippet and lost him. First time using flies of any kind and I am totally stoked that I hooked up in a difficult spot. I will upgrade my tippet game.
I got the Chico care package on a recommendation from a friend, and took it out this last weekend for some river and creek fishing. I've never really fly fished before, much less without a reel, so it was a completely new experience. The rod was great, providing a wonderful first time experience. Easy to store, easy to set up, and compact to travel with. I got a lot of practice in, and even managed to catch a small rainbow trout my first time out with one of the supplied flies in the care package!
I really like that it came with everything I needed to get in the water and fish. I can obsess over line weights, fly types, and rod strength once I get a feel for it. Customer service was top notch too, with the website chat making sure my affiliate discount code would go through. Can't wait to get back out on the water!
Thank you T.J. I am so excited you got out and played around with the CHICO. I was always humbled with Tenkara as how simple it is, just remember don't over complicate it.

Hi. I love my new Compa, but ended up falling down and breaking the 1st section after the handle section today. Is there anyway I can purchase a replacement for that section?
Hello Clint, we can always help you out getting some parts to get you going again. We usually charge 15.00 per section, plus 5.00 for shipping for broken parts. Our tip sections will always come with the last two sections because if you brake the tip section there is a good probability that the section connected is cracked.
My family owns 4 of these rods now. My wife and I, and our two daughters all rock a Chico. Super durable, great action, and strong! I've fought and landed my biggest brown on the Chico.. a true workhorse of a rod. Super balanced.. I can cast this thing all day.
